The AOLS Educational Foundation

The AOLS Educational Foundation and partner organizations support multiple awards for surveying/geomatics students in many Ontario educational institutions and one educational institution in New Brunswick. The following is a listing by institution.

The Association of Ontario Land Surveyors Educational Foundation Awards
Value $1,250 each

Given to two students enrolled in level 5 of the Civil Engineering Technology program with a minimum GPA of 3.0; have excelled in SURV8411 Construction Surveying I and SURV8412 Construction Surveying II, and demonstrate interest in pursuing a career in land surveying.

 The Award is open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, protected persons and international students. The Award funds are to be disbursed in the fall term.

The Award is open to students enrolled at the Ottawa Campus where the Civil Engineering Technology program is offered.

The Association of Ontario Land Surveyors Educational Foundation Award
The award will be presented to a returning full-time student who has completed a minimum of one year in the Civil Engineering Technician Program at Confederation College, School of Engineering Technology & Trades, and who demonstrates a high proficiency in CE 130 Introductory Surveying and CE 230 Advanced Surveying (Field School) and shows an interest in the Geomatics Sector. Value: $1,250

The Association of Ontario Land Surveyors Educational Foundation Henriette Verhoef Award
Value $1,500

This award is established in memory of Henriette Verhoef who passed away in 2017. Henri loved being a professional land surveyor and working outdoors. She was very committed to preserving the environment. She also had a very special connection with her colleagues in the surveying community; they were like a second family for her, offering support, friendship, mentorship and fun. This Award recognizes a student who embodies the supportive and community nature that Henri shared so much with her surveying family.

Criteria:
The award will be presented to a returning full-time, preferably female, student who has completed a minimum of one year in the Civil Engineering Technician Program at Confederation College, School of Engineering Technology & Trades, and who demonstrates a high proficiency in CE 130 Introductory Surveying and CE 230 Advanced Surveying (Field School), shows leadership and an interest in the Land Surveying Sector. 

Association of Ontario Land Surveyors Educational Foundation GIS Award
Value $1250.00

Presented to the student in the GIS - Applications Specialist Certificate Program who exemplifies leadership in project management.

Association of Ontario Land Surveyors Educational Foundation Kawartha-Haliburton Surveyors Scholastic Award
Value $1500.00

Presented to a student in GIS-Applications Specialist Certificate program who attended Survey Camp and exemplifies leadership in the participation of assignments, and prepared exemplary field notes. Named in honour of (changes yearly).

The Association of Ontario Land Surveyors Educational Foundation Award
Value $1,250

Presented to a full-time student at Fanshawe College who has completed year one in the Civil Engineering Technology program, has achieved a cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 3.0 and demonstrated highest proficiency in the Plane Surveying Introduction course.

The South Western Regional Group of Ontario Land Surveyors Student Achievement Award
Value $1,250

Presented to a full-time student at Fanshawe College who has completed year two in the Civil Engineering Technology program, has achieved a cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 3.0 and demonstrated highest proficiency in the Survey Field Application course.

The Association of Ontario Land Surveyors Educational Foundation Scholarship for Leadership in Land Surveying
Value: $1,250

Scholarship Criteria: Presented to a student in Semester 3 of the Civil Engineering Technology program. This student will be in good academic standing (70%+) and will demonstrate leadership in the classroom. In addition, the student will have a genuine interest in surveying with plans to pursue this profession.

The Tarasick McMillan Kubicki Limited Scholarship for Leadership in Land Surveying
Value: $1,500

Scholarship Criteria: Presented to a student in Semester 3 of the Civil Engineering Technology program. This student will be in good academic standing (70%+) and will demonstrate leadership in the classroom. In addition, the student will have a genuine interest in surveying with plans to pursue this profession.

Achievement Award – Value $1250

An annual award given to a Survey Technician program for the best computer assisted drafting project.

Leadership Award – Value $1250

Annual award given for scholastic achievement and leadership in the Survey Technician program.

Undergraduate Award – Value $1500

Awarded to a returning student in the Survey Engineering Technician program for overall scholastic and leadership in the Survey Technician Program.

The Association of Ontario Land Surveyors Educational Foundation Awards
Value $1,250 each

Presented to 2 full-time students in the Civil Engineering Technology program who have demonstrated high proficiency in Surveying 2 - SURVCV346 and show an interest in pursuing a career in land surveying.

Presented to students in Civil Engineering. Each student was required to submit a letter outlining their interest in pursuing a career in Geomatics Engineering.

Presented to:

4 - Second year students demonstrating overall academic achievement and in CVL 323 - Fundamentals of Surveying and showing an interest in pursuing a career in Geomatics Engineering. ($1,250 each)

4 - Third year students demonstrating overall academic achievement in CVL 323 - Fundamentals of Surveying, and CVL 352 – Geomatics Measurement Techniques. ($1,250 each).

Fernando De Luca Memorial Award

To recognize a graduate of the Civil Engineering program who has a minimum CGPA of 3.00 and demonstrated high academic achievement in CVL650 Satellite Geodesy. The student should show an interest in pursuing a career in Geomatics Engineering. ($1,500)

Genesis Land Surveying Baird and Mucklestone Award

This award has been established to recognize and honour the memory of Wilmot Johnston Baird and John Kenneth Mucklestone. This Award is to recognize an undergraduate of the Civil Engineering program who has demonstrated high academic achievement in CVL 736 Geospatial Information Systems. The student should demonstrate early professionalism and show an interest in pursuing a career in Geomatics Engineering. Value $1,500.

The Association of Ontario Land Surveyors Educational Foundation Scholarships

Field: Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering.
Four awards valued at $1,250 each.

Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Geodesy and Geomatics) or the Bachelor of Geomatics. Preference will be given to students taking the Cadastral Surveying Option (completed or registered in GGE 5833, GGE 5022, and GGE 5521 or GGE 5522). Two scholarships will be awarded to students registered in GGE 4513 Survey Law I and two scholarships will be awarded to students registered in GGE 5522 Survey Law II.

Jack Young Memorial Award for Survey Camp

Sponsored by the South Central Regional Group. Granted to the student who obtains the highest academic standing in CME358 – Civil & Minerals Practical (Survey Camp) with one recipient chosen for each of the two Survey Camp cohorts ($750/recipient).

If there is a tie, the recipient will be chosen based on their topographic mapping grade. Total value $1500


The Association of Ontario Land Surveyors Educational Foundation Award

Two awards of $1,250 each will be awarded to the top two students in the Geomatics program who have completed course Geog 310 (Geodesy) in the Faculty of Environment, University of Waterloo.

The Association of Ontario Land Surveyors Educational Foundation Academic Excellence in Geomatics Award

Two awards of $1,250 each to full-time undergraduate students enrolled in year two and year three in the Geomatics program in the Faculty of Environment at the University of Waterloo. UW will identify candidates and select recipients in second year normally each winter term and in third year normally each spring term.
